The Director of Operations of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Nana Ofori Owusu has backed the appointment of Brigitte Dzogbenuku as the running-mate for the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom.
According to him, the appointment of Brigitte who was not known to have any discernible political leanings before PPP’s announcement was consistent with the party’s all-inclusive agenda.

She’s set up NGOs to help women, in particular, the disenfranchised,” Nana Ofori Owusu said on Citi FM’s news analysis programme, The Big Issue
“Such a person with such a mind and such a spirit, we believe is consistent with the ideals that PPP is always talking about; an all-inclusive government. We will not hesitate to bring Ghanaians on board who are not PPP. The concept of the Winner takes all mentality you only use people from one party or the other, we want to diffuse that.”
Dr. Nduom named the Executive Director of Mentoring Women Ghana (MWG), as his running mate for the elections in December.
Brigitte lives and works in Accra, running her for-profit business, Barclays Clubhouse, in addition to her non-profit NGO.
She is an accomplished entrepreneur who ran her own public relations and events management company – Protocol Ventures.
Dr. Nduom has consistently emphasised the need for jobs in his campaign for the presidency and Brigitte, with her accomplishments appears to be a logical fit for the PPP presidential candidate.
According to the PPP’s parliamentary candidate for the Effutu constituency, the party will be looking to capitalise on her ‘organisational skills’ in their campaign ahead of the elections.
“Somebody who can start an NGO, mobilise funding for the NGO, help the people, put them in job placements and think about human beings is the right person. The process of thinking about human beings and looking for the solution for that human is the process of governance and government must be of the people, for the people and by the people. If somebody in their private capacity, is living out the governance structure in their own particular way, that person, when brought on board, that mobilisation skill, the ability to care for Ghanaians to source funding and want to make a diffference in people’s lives will transform the lives of individuals from a state of chaos to a state where they’ll be able fend for themselves,” he said.
Brigitte Dzogbenuku stated that despite the promises by other parties to create jobs for the people, the PPP is the only party that has consistently and efficiently been able to address those issues despite being in opposition.
“We are pragmatic and we address the needs of the people. There are certain things that other parties do but I ask myself whether those things address the needs of Ghanaians,” she said on the Citi Breakfast Show on Friday
“If you listen to the other political parties, they are talking about jobs and we know that promises in our political sphere don’t always come to pass. The PPP however through Dr. Ndoum has established a company or business in every district so it is not a promise, it is something that exists. If things are run well, they grow. If they grow there is only a possibility of employing more.”
