The wife of the 32 year old police officer with the Rapid Deployment Force in Tema, Lance Corporal Amuzu, who committed suicide after shooting his mother in-law and his two children, has told Citi News the late officer had been threatening her life repeatedly before Monday’s gruesome act.
Narrating the ordeal to Citi News, Rafa Iddrissu, noted that, she was out of the house to visit her sister at Ashaiman, when the incident occurred.
[contextly_sidebar id=”5EioCsagTtdgVkWpjiMC77ZNdKaQlcRX”]According to her, her late husband on 10th December 2015, abused her with a screw driver, and later threatened to kill her and later himself.
“Last year [2015] on 10th December, my husband came back from town accusing me of cheating on him. Before I could explain myself, he had removed a screw driver in an attempt to pierce me but I had to save it with my hands. He later threatened to kill me and the children including himself” she noted.
Madam Rafa who sells pastries added that, she has been separated with the husband for some time now, and lodged a complaint with the police following the threats on her life.

“I have lodged several complaints with the police for redress, but was asked that since he was a police officer, he could not be arrested but cautioned.”
She narrated that “the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit, DOVSSU after I had lodged one of the assault complaints to them, they asked my husband (the deceased) to rent us a new accommodation as we could not live together under same roof.”
She said “whilst we waited for him to rent a new place of abode for us, we had been perching in an uncompleted accommodation around the Devtraco estates.”

Lance Corporal Amuzu shot himself to death on Monday, after killing his mother-in-law, 62, and two children, 2-months old, and 1-year seven months old.
The officer booked an Ak-47 rifle at his station on Monday for official duties. But hours later, the news of the gruesome act started making the rounds in the neighbourhood.
The two-month old child was seen lying lifeless in a bowl with blood stains. In the gory and offensive photos which cannot be shared, the in-law, who was bathing the child at the time of the shooting, also lies lifeless with her legs in the bowl.
The other kid was also found on the floor half-naked with blood stains.
The police officer, fully clothed in his uniform with his helmet, was also found lying close to his son, in a pool of blood.
The Public Relations Officer of the Tema Regional Police, ASP Juliana Obeng, said investigations are underway into the incident.
