The 2016 Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Akuffo Addo has appealed to voters to fully participate in the upcoming voters’ register exhibition to guarantee the party’s victory in the November polls.
The Electoral Commission will from Monday open the voters’ register to allow prospective voters to confirm their names in the electoral roll.
The exercise is expected to end on August 7, 2016.
Addressing party supporters in the Ashanti Region, Nana Addo urged residents in the area to corporate with the process.
“The Electoral Commission will from next week Monday open the voter register for eligible voters to confirm whether their names have been duly captured. As a matter of fact I urge all of you to take part in the process so that the necessary changes will be effected before the election. If you do not do that you will not be allowed to vote on the day election so I will appeal that you make sure you corporate with the process.”
Guidelines
In a related development, the Electoral Commission has released the following guidelines for the conduct of the upcoming exercise.
- The Provisional Voters’ Register has been printed and distributed to all our District Offices across the country, ready for deployment early tomorrow morning.
- 29,000 Biometric Verification Devices with buckups are also ready in all our offices for deployment to all polling/exhibition centres.
- All other supporting materials have also been distributed and ready to be deployed.
- All exhibition officers have been fully trained and ready to do quality job for the next 21days across the country.
- Senior officials of the Commission will be visible on the field to monitor the exercise to ensure everything is working smoothly. All unforeseen issues will be resolved speedily.
- If you intend to vote on November 7, this is your chance to ensure your voting details on the Register are correct and get your fingerprint verified, to avoid any inconvenience to you on election day.
- A national multi-platform Voter Support Centre will be opened at the Commission’s Head Office to respond timeously to all exhibition and election related questions and enquiries. It is just one of the many innovative strategies we are implementing to enhance our communications and engagement with you for a credible, trusted, independent, and world-class elections in 2016.
