The opposition New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the Gambaga/Nalerigu Constituency in the Northern Region, Hajia Alima Mahama, has slammed President John Dramani Mahama following his call on Mamprusis to ignore the NPP’s running mate, Dr. Mahamoud Bawumia, and vote for him at the 2016 polls.
President Mahama made the plea when he addressed the chiefs and people of Mamprugu land as part of his “Accounting to the people tour” of the Northern Region.
In a sharp rebuttal in a Citi News interview in Nalerigu, the former Minister for Women and Children’s Affairs, described President Mahama’s call as an act of desperation and implored her kinsmen to massively vote the NPP at the polls.

She said a Nana Addo/Bawumia government will transform the Mamprugu land to an appreciable level as demonstrated by the erstwhile Kufour led NPP administration.
She added that, Ghanaians are fed up with President Mahama’s political rhetoric and will kick him out at the polls.
She is optimistic the NPP will win the 2016 elections with overwhelming parliamentary majority with or without a credible voters’ register.
We’II resist manipulation of election results – Hajia Alima
She nonetheless cautioned the Electoral Commission against any attempt to skew the register in favour of the governing NDC. She served notice that the NPP will resist any calculated attempt to manipulate the election results.
Hajia Alima insisted that, the EC must demonstrate fairness and neutrality in all processes leading to the elections. She vowed to wrestle the seat from the NDC to accomplish her unfinished agenda in the constituency.
According to her, women empowerment and girl child education which she started as a former MP are part of her priority areas.
She is in the race with her direct cousin on the ticket of the NDC called Alhaji Baba Issifu.
