The Asanteman Council has called for the immediate removal of the Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Kojo Bonsu.
A complaint was filed against him at the Council over the construction of the Kejetia Central Market redevelopment project.
[contextly_sidebar id=”YC6OXWx7wfT1yJ5TemL6KbTWKMxOlu6v”]Mr. Bonsu is reported to have unilaterally removed Amoamanhene, Nana Agyenim Boateng from the Kejetia Market project board without informing the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Nana Agyenim later petitioned the Asanteman Council over the matter.
The Asanteman Council on Monday summoned Kojo Bonsu over what it considers “unfavorable attitude” exhibited by him.
Meanwhile, the KMA boss who is said to have failed to appear before the Council, was represented by the Regional Minister, Alexander Akon.
Protests against KMA over relocation
There has been confusion in Kumasi between the traders and the KMA over plans to reconstruct the Kumasi Central Market.
Traders at the Kejetia market have on several occasions staged demonstrations to protest the Assembly’s decision to relocate them.
The traders in a bid to stop the relocation requested for an injunction to be placed on the demolition of the Kejetia Bus Terminal meant to pave way for the redevelopment of the terminal but the court threw out their application.
