Five people have so far been confirmed dead in two separate incidents in the Central Region according to the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) in the region.
The Regional Coordinator for NADMO in the Central Region, Sandy Amartey, revealed to Citi News that that the first incident involved two children, aged three and one, who drowned in a pond around their area of residence in Wenge, a community within the Gomoa East district.

He however added that, there have been “casualties where people died as a result of electrocution and falling walls among others.”
The other three deaths occurred when a wall, weakened by the heavy rains, fell on three persons at Kissi Kwahenkrom in the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abirem District (KEEA).
The fatalities in this incident were two middle-aged women and an eight year old girl, who died after the wall collapsed on them.
The two women were identified as, Maame Sikayena, 45, and Ama Boode, 50, who were siblings, while the eight year old girl was Rose Nsonwah, the daughter of Madam Ama Boode.
