The General Secretary of the All People’s Congress (APC), Razak Kojo Opoku, has said children who thronged the party’s congress on Monday were perhaps there for sight-seeing.
“Some even followed their friends, some have not even had an opportunity to enter the Accra International Conference Centre, so they saw it as a tourist opportunity to come and see this place. So when they came because of the compassionate nature of APC, we couldn’t sack them from the premises,” he added.
The newly formed APC held its first national delegates congress on Monday which saw the endorsement of party founder, Hassan Ayariga as flagbearer and Chairman.

Some of them said they only turned up upon a request from a member of the party.
But the newly elected General Secretary, Razak Kojo Opoku, told Citi News that most of the children might have received the accreditation from some of the delegates.
“Some of them or even card bearing members may also not be politically matured to know the relevance or importance of the activities that we did. And the accreditation that we did was for delegates, VIP and the media. So how did they get inside? So I’m sure they got the accreditation from some of the delegates.
Mr. Opoku also revealed that the minors could also be a form of strategy for getting more members for the the party because by 2020, such children would have attained the voting age to vote massively for the APC.
“APC has come to stay. We are not limiting ourselves to the 2016 general elections. We are going to contest 2020 and subsequent elections. So I will even say that it is a good strategy of bringing the minors on board so that by the time we reach 2020, they would have attained the voting age and they will vote for the APC,” he added.
Suggestions are that, the party which is struggling to be noticed, decided to bus the children to the venue to fill the empty spaces.
