Police in the Brong Ahafo Region say they have arrested the prime suspect in the Kwame-Danso-Atebubu robbery attack that led to the death of a Police constable.
Constable Frank Adu Klu, was shot dead last Tuesday by armed robbers while he was escorting a commercial bus.
[contextly_sidebar id=”PSulK0m3JOxNhHvYeARUY3NHsoXQXXzc”]The Brong Ahafo Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Christopher Tawiah, told Citi News that the suspect, Shamaha Hakeem, alias Chief Mallam Jackie, was arrested in his hideout on Saturday.
“Last Saturday, at dawn around 2:00am, our Police intelligence led us to his house and arrested him with one other person Shamaha Hakeem alias Chief Mallam Jackie, aged 34 years. Officially, we were told they were seven in number and now we’ve gotten the prime suspect so we have six at large now.”
He noted that the police retrieved some items including “two short arms, 20 cartridges of ammunition, a cutlass and a mobile phone” at the suspect’s residence the day he was arrested.
“From there, a further search in his room yesterday [Sunday], has revealed one locally manufactured pistol, four live cartridges of ammunition, six rounds of AK-47 ammunition, six round of pistol ammunition and four techno phones.”
ASP Tawiah however called on the public to volunteer information leading to the arrest of the six others who have escaped.
Police vow to arrest killers of Atebubu officer
The Police in the region had vowed to smoke out the killers of one of its officers.
Meanwhile some residents have blamed the officer’s death on bad roads in the area.
