The headteacher of the Agogo State College in the Ashanti Region, Jacob Kofi Dankwa, has appealed to the Ghana Education Service (GES), and philanthropists to help provide the school with a sick bay and a library.
According to Mr. Dankwah, the lack of a library is gravely affecting academic performance.
[contextly_sidebar id=”lPZkp94cEsld6Ef6ZWndaZlboPTZcO0G”]He told Citi News “academic work retrogresses as students cannot do research on their own due to the lack of a library”.
“I took over barely two years now and I’m doing everything possible to make sure that we get these basic things but I’m also appealing to the government through the GES to help us with these basic urgent needs”, he added.
He said he personally had to transport students in his vehicle to the hospital especially at night when they fall ill, because the school does not have a sick bay.
Mr. Dankwah made the appeal to Citi News over the weekend, at the school’s 53rd Home-coming ceremony.
The school, which has a population of over two thousand students, scored over 90 percent pass during last year’s WASSCE, despite the challenges.
Meanwhile some old students of the Agogo State College have donated GHC8,000 to the school to help address some of its challenges.
