The flagbearer of the All People’s Congress (APC), Hassan Ayariga, has said the National Democratic Congress administration would have performed better if President John Dramani Mahama had consulted with the flagbearers of other political parties.
Hassan Ayariga, a former People’s National Convention flagbearer, made these remarks whilst giving the current government a mixed rating based on its performance over the last four years.
Speaking on Viasat One’s current affairs programme, ‘The Ghana Report’, Mr. Ayariga indicated that government had made some strides in sectors like education and road infrastructure and commended them for same.
[contextly_sidebar id=”JXp9MceytPX6ILfQjsFIX19GMKrWTUEM”]“For infrastructure, I think they have done well. Road construction, they are doing better. In education they have done well because at least we have seen a lot of buildings coming up for schools and other projects.”
He however stated that Ghana could have been in a much better state if President Mahama had opened up to ideas from flagbearers of the other political parties.
“…But it would have been better if we were all on board. If we were all on board, imagine all the flagbearers coming to sit with president Mahama saying we want to transform Ghana and everybody will bring his idea,” the APC flagbearer stated.
Mr. Ayariga went on to cite the government’s handling of the energy situation as one of the NDC government’s major failures due to lack of planning and vision.
“With energy crisis they have performed so badly and there is a saying that for lack of vision, my people perish. So they have not actually projected what will happen enough and they are not the only people who have not performed, successive governments before them too are to blame.”
