The Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) is hunting for 64 imposters found to be using fake certificates as professional teachers in the Northern Region.
The Northern Regional Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES) uncovered the culprits during an exercise conducted to verify the certificates of all professional teachers in the area.
The Northern Regional Director of the Ghana Education Service, Alhaji Mohammed Haroun Cambodia, told Citi News that the culprits have since escaped.
According to him, their documents have been submitted to the BNI for further investigations.
The Northern Regional GES Boss said the exercise would be continued to weed out fake teachers in the system.
Alhaji Mohammed Haroun Cambodia also cited teachers’ absenteeism and lateness to school as contributory factors to the region’s poor performance in the education sector.
He thus implored circuit supervisors to intensify their monitoring and supervision.
