Total Petroleum Ghana Limited, one of Ghana’s leading oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), has climaxed its maiden edition of the “StartUpper of the Year” contest with an awards ceremony and dinner in Accra.
The contest, launched in the last quarter of 2015, seeks to unearth and support young and budding entrepreneurs with financial packages as well as coaching programmes.
The three winners Joshua Ayinbora of JE&F Company Limited, Eunice Owusu-Karikari of E-Juice Company Ltd., and Salma Abdulai of Unique Quality Product Enterprise took home GHC 160,000 and a yearlong coaching programme for their businesses. The coaching programmes will be sponsored by Total Petroleum Ghana Ltd.
Managing Director of Total Petroleum Ghana, Olivier Van Parys expressed his satisfaction at the excellent project ideas of the three winners and urged them to carry out their projects with diligence and hard work.
“This shows that Ghana has got young people with talent and entrepreneurship skills. It is our role as major companies to contribute to their development, replace imports and positively impact the environment”, he stated.
He further added that “the young entrepreneurs are really gaining a lot of momentum to ensure that their ideas are growing and this is remarkable”.
The “Startupper of the Year by Total” Challenge is held in 34 African countries as part of Total’s overall policy of supporting the socio-economic development of all its host countries worldwide.
