The Accra Regional Police Command has formally inaugurated a new policy aimed at increasing interactions between the police and members of the public.
The Continuous Community Stakeholder Engagement policy will see the Accra Regional Police Commander COP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare and other senior staff of the command spend a day in one community every month.
Under the programme, divisional and district commanders will follow up and engage the communities in further consultations after the regional commander’s first visit to a particular community.
Addressing journalists after interacting with various groups and residents at Achimota under the aegis of the programme, COP Dampare said the programme will be implemented in all communities under the region.
“If you want better results you have to engage all stakeholders. We are identifying all the stakeholders that we need to engage continuously on real time basis for purposes of understanding their issues”, he said.
He stated that the police will incorporate the feedback from the communities in their strategic planning and called on the public to cooperate with the police in its bid to maintain law and order.
“We know that achieving better results and bringing everybody on board will make our metropolis safe and by extension the country. It is a sustainable policy and we will continue to collaborate with the public,” he stated.
