The Odododiodoo Constituency branch of the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Greater Accra Region, has inaugurated a joint women and youth working committees as part of the measures to bridge the gap between the members of the constituency and the party hierarchy.
The working committee, which consists of 60 youth and 64 women, will assist the party’s executives reach out to the residents and gather complaints of the populace for immediate solutions.
The Minister of Youth and Sports and Member of Parliament for the area, Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, told journalists shortly after the inaugural ceremony, that the selected women and youth of the constituency can do the job because he believes in them when it comes to organization, mobilization and coordination.
“However they need to be organized and be given terms of reference and what to do,” he added.
According to him, each selected member for the working committee who represents the party will oversee about one hundred houses since the constituency has been divided into sets.
“With the committee, we will have more hands to do the work and not only the MP or the party executives in the constituency,” Mr. Vanderpuije stated
Mr. Lantey Vanderpuije further said the constituency branch of the NDC has instilled discipline among the youth of the constituency to ensure a violent free election come November 7 saying, “as a Youth and Sports Minister, I must live an exemplary life and I have told the youth not to react even when they are provoked but ensure that peace reigns.”
