The final funeral rites for the former National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Jake Obetsebi Lamptey is currently underway at the forecourt of the State House.
Some dignitaries including President John Mahama, former President Rawlings and Nana Akufo Addo are present at the ceremony.
The late Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey served as the first Chief of Staff , Minister of Information and Presidential Affairs, as well as Minister of Tourism and Modernization of the Capital City under the erst-while Kufuor administration.
He was also the National Campaign Manager of the NPP during the 2000 Presidential elections, which saw the first constitutional (civilian-to-civilian) transition of power.
He resigned his posts in July 2007 to campaign for the NPP nomination for the 2008 Presidential elections.
As at February 2010, he was the National Chairman of the NPP.
