President John Dramani Mahama, has in consultation with the Council of State, appointed Dr. Johnson P. Asiama as Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana.
The appointment takes effect from 5th April, 2016.
Dr. Asiama until his elevation was the Assistant Director at the Economics Department of the Bank of Ghana where he coordinated the work of the Monetary Policy Committee and supported the work of the Governors directly.
[contextly_sidebar id=”fC28dacbcWI46gxuOJ8xO1wIOBBv28vW”]He holds a PHD (Economics) from the University of Southhampton UK and an MPHIL (Economics) from the University of Ghana, Legon.
He has also previously served as Director of the Macroeconomic Management Department at the West African Institute for Financial and Economic Management (WAIFEM) in Lagos, Nigeria.
The 48year old joined the Bank of Ghana in 1996.
His appointment comes barely few weeks after the President appointed Dr. Abdul-Nashiru Issahaku as Governor of the Central Bank to replace Dr. Henry Kofi Wampah who took early retirement.
