As a relevant radio station noted for promoting social cohesion and Human Rights of alleged witches banished in some communities in the Northern Region, a Non Governmental Organization called Songtaba has awarded Citi FM for its meritorious services.
According to the organization’s management, Citi FM’s immense contribution to their success over the last 10 years was immeasurable, hence the acknowledgement.
Songtaba in collaboration with Action Aid Ghana has over the last 10 years been alleviating the plight of ostracized aged women camped in isolated places called alleged witches camps.
The organization recently in conjunction with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection began the disbandment and reintegration of the alleged witches.
With Hajia Lamnatu Adam as the Programmes Director, Songtaba which is headquartered in Bimbila operates in the Eastern Corridor of the Northern Region where there are six of the alleged witches camps.
These include the Kukuo alleged witches camp in the Nanumba South District, that of Nabuli in the Gushiegu district, Ngani in the Yendi Municipality and the popular Gambaga alleged witches camp.
