The National Scholarship Secretariat has released feeding ativan grants for the third term of 2014-2015 academic year, with arrears of first, second and third terms of 2015-2016 academic yet to be paid.
Heads of Senior High Schools in the three regions of the north were uncertain about reopening their schools following non-payment of feeding grants for three terms by government.

Speaking to Citi News, the Upper East Regional Chairperson of the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS), Madam Francisca Yizura, said part of the feeding grant arrears have been paid by the Scholarship Secretariat but would not say how many terms were paid for.
“We sent someone to the national scholarship secretariat on Tuesday and a cheque was issued out for the payment of feeding grants and subsequently all affected senior high schools accounts were credited. But I cannot tell the number of terms been paid by government in respect of the arrears until the person we sent returns from Accra with official statement on the number of terms been paid for.”
Meanwhile, some headteachers who spoke to Citi News said only the third term of the 2014-2015 academic year has been paid leaving arrears of first, second and third terms of 2015-2016 academic year.
The headteachers reiterated that, the situation will pose distress to the schools in their quest to feed the students because the monies they have just received would be used to settle their suppliers, who will not supply them items until they are fully paid.
The heads are appealing to government to pay in full feeding grants arrears to enable them provide students with reliable meals.
