25 WASSCE candidates from the Guakro Effah Senior High School in the Brong Ahafo region on Thursday sat for various papers in the WASSCE examination but unlike most of their counterparts nationwide, they had to do so after being involved in a potentially fatal car accident.
The 25 students narrowly escaped death when the brakes of their school bus, in which they were travelling to their examination center in Tuabodom, failed, causing the bus to veer off the road and land on its side.

The students were rushed to the Holy Family Hospital in Techiman, where they received treatment and were discharged in time for them to sit for their papers.
ASP Christopher Tawiah noted that aside the failed brakes and the bad roads on which the bus was traveling, the accident was also due to the fact that the driver of the bus was over-speeding.
The driver sustained a fracture on his left hand is receiving treatment at the Holy Family hospital.
