Hundreds of mourners from across the country are expected to gather at the Police headquarters in Accra today [Monday], to observe the one week of the demise of the late Eastern Regional Police Commander, DCOP Angwubutoge Awuni.
The top hierarchy of the Ghana Police Service, and some government officials are expected to attend.
DCOP Angwubutoge died last week after a short illness.
A book of condolence will also be opened at the ceremony.
Before becoming the Eastern Regional Police commander, he was the commander for the Police MTTU.
He was transferred to the Eastern Region in December 2015 from the Greater Accra Region, and was instrumental in the conversion of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) into a department where he served as Director.
He is respected by many who view him as one of the most hardworking and principled police officers.
