Citi FM’s celebration of Ghanaian heritage has been given life and colour this week with the Music of Ghanaian Origin Festival (MOGO), climaxing this Saturday, March 5, with the MOGO Awards, which will be interspersed with great highlife music.
Legendary Highlife musician, Amakye Dede, will headline the event at the Alisa Hotel Ridge Arena and he has promised fans “a different Amakye Dede” as he performs alongside other great musicians including Bessa Simons, Ebo Taylor and Bob Pinodo.
[contextly_sidebar id=”ghVMLhHZKQMWizZGPwjnLkAyr5hd0rIz”]Speaking on Brunch in the Citi today, [Thursday], Amakye Dede promised patrons a wonderful show given that this will be his first performance since the tragic car accident he was involved in that claimed the life of his manager.
“Everybody should prepare because I am going to give them a wonderful show. Since January 1 when we got the accident, I have not been performing and this is the first big show I am coming to,” Amakye Dede said.
“I have something different for them. They are going to see a different Amakye Dede on Saturday,” he promised fans.
The MOGO Awards will climax the week-long MOGO Festival, which started on Monday February 29, with the 3 Nights With Music Greats event.
The 3 Nights show commenced with ace highlife artiste Ebo Taylor, who handed over the baton to Bob Pinodo. It ended on Wednesday with K.K Kabobo thrilling highlife fans at the +233 Jazz Bar and Grill.
The MOGO week celebration has already seen the release of the official list of nominees for 2016 MOGO Awards with Gasmilla, Sarkodie, Obrafour among the nominees and ‘Brother Brother’ and ‘Mansa’ hitmaker, Bisa K’dei, leading with seven nominations.

In all, the ten outstanding awardees will receive the deserved recognition for a good job done.
Outstanding legends, whose contributions to the Ghanaian music industry have brought great gains to the highlife genre, would be honoured with the lifetime achievement awards.
