Parliament has approved a loan for the design, construction and furnishing of a new hospital in Wheta in Ketu North District.
This was revealed by the Member of Parliament for the area, Dr. James Klutse Avedzi.
The new district hospital is among five other health facilities to be constructed across the country through funding from the Raiffesen Bank International AG of Austria.
The projects when completed will have an Outpatient Department, Ultramodern Eye Centre, Dentistry, Pharmacies, Laboratories, Theatres, Accident and Emergency Units, Inpatient Units and Maternity Block, and adjunct clinical services among others.
The MP said five district hospitals and a polyclinic have been earmarked for construction within 36months at a cost of 89.9 million Euros.
Other beneficiary communities are Somanya in the Eastern Region, Buipe, Sawla-Tuna-Kalba, and Tolon all in the Northern Region and a polyclinic in Bamboi, also in the Northern Region.
On his part the District Chief Executive, Kofi Lawson told citifmonline.com, the chiefs and elders of Wheta have been consulted and documents are being prepared for the formal acquisition of the proposed site for the hospital.
The two were speaking on the sidelines of the 10th Annual Rice Festival of the Chiefs and People of Dekpor.
The festival is aimed at promoting the consumption and development of the Rice Industry in the Traditional Area.
