Ghana winger Frank Acheampong says his goal against Mozambique at the Accra Sports Stadium was dedicated to the victims of the Brussels terror attacks which occurred on March 22.
Acheampong plays for Anderlecht which is based in Brussels and he revealed after the match that he was very familiar with the borough that suffered the attacks.
He said to GH One TV in an interview after the match that he shared the pain of the victims and the goal was his way of making this public.
“My goal was dedicated to the victims of the attacks and so I take this this opportunity to express my condolences.”
“I am with them because it has not been easy. It is quite dangerous but we need to keep on working and praying.”
“I was in Brusssels when the attacks occurred and it was around where I live in Belgium.” Acheampong is due to return to club duty with Anderlecht this week as they prepare to face Genk on Sunday at the Stade Constant Vanden Stock.
