Organizers of TEDxAccra, have confirmed April 19 to 23, 2016, as the date for this year TEDxAccra conference.
The independently produced event, operated under license from TED, will be held at the National Theater, a venue that has hosted a plethora of life changing events.
Organized along the theme of “Rethink,” the conference will feature 18-20 of the region’s leading thinkers, innovators, artists, philosophers and entertainers representing such diverse fields as technology, entertainment, visual and performance art, design, politics, music, ecology, and education, among others.
TED was founded in 1984; the acronym stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design. The annual TED conference brings together some of the world’s most fascinating thinkers and doers. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED created a program called TEDx where x = independently organized.
Yet, the event is as much about the attendees as it is the speakers, says Emmanuel Leslie Addae, who applied and received for the license and has attended other TED related events around the world. “TEDxAccra will attract some of the brightest people from our region. Those who will take the ideas presented and use them as a catalyst for change in their communities.”

At TEDxAccra, participants will take part in a TED-like experience that will ultimately equip and inspire them into boundless possibilities.
The concept is to reflect ideas and inspire thinking of a new generation of African thinkers and leaders, presenting to an audience committed to engaging and reengaging in an active and meaningful manner with the continent.
