Citi News checks in some parts of the national capital, Accra, indicates that the price of sachet water is yet to go up despite an announcement that a 10 pesewa increase would come into effect from Monday, February 1, 2016.
The President of the Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers, Magnus Nunoo, announced the increment last week citing recent 67.2% increase for water as well as increases in the prices of petroleum products.
He expressed their disappointment in the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission’s (PURC) decision to make producers of sachet water pay GHc50 for a cubic meter of water.
Citi News’ checks on Monday, February 1, shows that a single sachet water still sells at the original price of 20 pesewas.
Citi News` Eugenia Tenkorang was on the streets, and spoke to some vendors.
