Members of Parliament (MPs) have expressed worry at the uncontrollable spread of the deadly pneumococcal meningitis in the country.
The MPs say more needs to be done by the Health Ministry to curb the spread of the disease.

The MPs on the floor of Parliament on Thursday said the government must put in place the necessary measure to end the spread of the disease.
One MP said “this is a worrying situation, as a country we are not taking the issue of preventive health seriously.”
“Why do you have to wait, procure the vaccines when you know that there are protocols to be followed yet because of logistical constraints because of monies to buy fuel, they are not able to administer it as per the details of the protocol yet people are dying,” he added.
Another MP expressed worry about the surge in the deaths being recorded.
“Let me admit that the attention of the whole nation was brought because the media were proactive so I would want to entreat the ministry to embark on public health education and take that seriously and at the same time ensure that funds meant for these projects are released,” he added.
