The New Patriotic Party (NPP) led by its Flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, on Monday delivered its version of the State of the Nation address, dubbed: ‘The Real State of the Nation.’
According to Nana Addo, the address sought to correct an erroneous achievement touted by the president during his State of the Nation Address on Thursday, February 25.
Speaking in Parliament last Thursday, President Mahama boasted about the successes chalked by the NDC administration over the past three years, particularly in the education, health, road infrastructure and energy sectors.
The President in presenting what he called an evidence-based address, invited some individuals to the chamber, to show them to the crowd as some of the persons who have benefited from his government’s policies and programmes.
But the NPP’s Flagbearer rubbished the said achievements describing them as a mere propaganda that does not equate the resources that government has had over the years from oil and other resources.”
He said President Mahama is out of touch with the realities on the ground and has rather resorted to painting a glowing picture of the country.
“It is obvious the President did not want to tell us the true state of the Ghanaian Economy. This is the good-news-story-telling President. Factual account stories do not interest him. If they did, he would have told us that economic growth for 2015 is projected at 4.1. He could not tell those businesses that are relocating to Cote d’Ivoire that they should continue to engage in Ghana,” he added.
