Acting Inspector General Of Police John Kudalor, has pledged his support to Ibrahim Oppong Kwateng, the Ambassador Extraordinaire for the Ghana Prisons Service and the initiator of the crime check programme which seeks to sensitize Ghanaians by bringing to bear the stories of prisoners and the conditions of the prisons.
According to Oppong Kwateng, “Most crime fighters have restricted their activities to rehabilitation and reformation of prisoners and less is done in the area of crime prevention.
The foundation will bring out prison documentaries on conditions in prisons, rolling out sensitization campaign in schools, churches, mosques. Again, the foundation has entered into talks with G.P.R.T.U to show the documentaries in their various travelling buses.”
“A new series called time with the prisoners has been introduced on Ghana television to aid in the sensitization process.”
He added, “the programme is the first of its kind in Africa and all recordings are done directly from the prisons with prisoners telling their stories to encourage the general public desist from criminal acts.”
The Acting IGP applauded Mr. Kwateng for a great initiative to help the police fight crime and pledged that the police service will be at his beck and call as a sign of support.
Mr. Kudalor congratulated him for the honors given to him by the prisons and the motherland, adding that the initiative is in line with the vision of the police.
