Ghana’s U-20 team, the Black Satellites, will face their counterparts from England in an international friendly on March 27 in Doncaster.
The match will be the first for the new England U-20 coach Keith Downing who was given the position on a permanent basis.
The match against Ghana will be his fourth after playing against Turkey, Holland and the Czech Republic.
He told the English Football Association’s website on Wednesday that he was happy with the opportunity to take on Ghana and use it to measure the strengths of his against the 2009 World Cup winners.
“It is a really exciting game we have to look forward to against African opposition, and Ghana have notoriously done well at youth level so it will be a good test for us.”
“It’s vitally important that the players get the right exposure to the different challenges of international football, and having games against different opponents from all continents, such as Ghana, is really important for their development.”
The match will be played at Doncaster Rovers’ Keepmoat Stadium.
