Professor Ebenezer Owusu Oduro has been approved as the new Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana at a council meeting held on Friday.
Professor Ebenezer Owusu Oduro, who serves as the Provost of the College of Basic and Applied Sciences, is expected to assume the post of Vice Chancellor on August 1, 2016.
He shrugged off competition from other top professors in the University to earn the nod as the man who will replace current Vice Chancellor Professor Ernest Aryeetey who leaves office in July.
The shortlist for the job included Professor Samuel Agyei Mensah (Provost of the College of Humanities), Professor John Gyapong (Pro Vice Chancellor, Research and Innovation) and Professor Akosua Adomako Ampofo (Former Director of the Institute of African Studies).
Professor Oduro’s specialization is in Insect Biochemistry, Chemical Ecology, Pesticide Science, Insect Resistance to Insecticides, Ecology and Project Management.
He enrolled as a Research student of Kochi University in 1989 and obtained both his Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from Kochi University.
His research activity/interests include insecticide resistance and use of indigenous plant materials for management of millet and other vegetable insect pests.
