For those living along the coastal parts of Ghana, festive seasons are simply beach times.
Christmas and New Year holidays are times for family and friends to climax the year in style at the beach. They throng to the shores in their numbers to make the best out of the season. They wine and dine and swim.
In Takoradi, some of the beaches are neatly prepared such that all categories of people visiting them enjoy the serenity of the atmosphere.
There are summer huts with chairs and tables for families and loved ones at some of the beaches. Others appear normal as any other beach.
In festive times such as the one that went by, the beaches become places for games such as football, volley ball and athletics for both the young and old.
The sounds of younger children fill the air as they are guided to swim and play in the sea.
Others in their attempt to make keep memorable images of the day, are seen taking photos. Some hawkers equally take advantage of the day to make some sales.
Knowing fully the risk involved in swimming, personnel from the Marine Police Division of the Ghana Police Service are deployed during the period to ensure the safety of merry makers.
Why don’t you visit the West side [Western Region] for your next New Year or Christmas season or vacation? Remember, the best they say, comes from the west.
