Three masked men, armed with locally manufactured guns, shot through the ribs of a young man and made away with his four mobile phones and an unspecified amount of money at Sakumono near Tema.
The incident occurred around 1.30am on Monday after the suspects failed in their attempt to snatch his car.
Speaking to Citi News, the Public Relations Officer of the Accra Regional Police Command, ASP Effia Tenge, said the police are closing in on the suspects.

ASP Tenge said the “three masked men armed with locally manufactured pistol attacked the man at Sakumuno and attempted to snatch his Toyota 4×4 land cruiser from him. In the process, the robbers fired the left side of his ribs and made away with the ignition key to the vehicle, four mobile phones and unspecified amount of money.”
He said the victim who sustained gunshot wounds was rushed to the hospital by the police and is responding to treatment.
ASP Tenge assured that they will pursue the criminals and get them arrested, but also advised the public to avoid struggling with criminals who attack them for their properties.
