Court activities in the country will grind to a halt on Wednesday following a directive by the Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) to its members to participate in Organised Labour demonstration.
JUSAG in a statement directed its members to comply with the directive in a bid to force government to scrap the energy levy on petroleum products and a reduction in utility prices.
[contextly_sidebar id=”mdki6H53hBbVf1fAn6CtbMZKr8nFAM6O”]The statement further urged all members of the association, its national executives and regional executives to comply with order.
“All members of JUSAG shall join the nationwide demonstration at their respective regions. Members are to put on our JUSAG lacost and re-arm-bands….Also all Regional Executives to partake in meetings of Organised Labour in the respective regions.”
Meanwhile, JUSAG has called on security personnel at the various courts “to remain at post to ensure protection and safety of Judicial Service property.”
Organised Labour following the hikes in utility prices and petroleum products demanded for a 50 percent increase in salaries of public sector workers but several meetings between the body and government have failed to yield any positive results.
They have subsequently set out a roadmap including a demonstration and industrial action to force government to succumb to their demand.
