Government has reiterated its commitment to investing in infrastructure development in the education sector.
According to a Deputy Minister of Education in-charge of Tertiary, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, this will see the expansion of facilities that will eventually increase enrollment in the various institutions.
[contextly_sidebar id=”gFgP8MYLQ0wxLWQCS6FSmcahKJiatvTD”]During a tour of some GETFUND projects in Accra on Thursday, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa indicated that government is committed to transforming the quality of education throughout the country.
“It shows the great deal of commitment on the part of government. It is not only about carrying out projects but it is also about prioritizing the projects and carrying out strategic projects and also seeing it to its completion. All these projects are very essential to the development of the school. We are prioritizing the project, we are investing in projects that would make an impact on the students and will have direct bearing on the learning experience of the student.”
His first point of call was at the Association of African Universities. The facility, according to the Project Manager, Anthony Atta Bosompem will be the permanent secretariat of the association.
It is about 60 percent complete.
The over 1000 seater capacity library complex at the University f Professional Studies, UPSA, which will be opened to students in March, 2016, has an e-learning centre, library and executive learning center.
At the Accra College of Education, an ongoing 1000 seater capacity Auditorium was about 60 percent complete. A demonstration school is also about 40 percent complete.
