Asante Kotoko’s short camp to Libya might have ended without a win but for the viewpoint of their young goalkeeper Felix Annan it presented the perfect platform for the team to improve in a number of departments of the game.
Invited by Libyan top flight side Al Ittihad Tripoli the porcupine Warriors departed for Tripoli with a 16 man contingent while the remainder of the squad stayed in Ghana to contest and eventually win the FirsTrust G6 Tournament. The Porcupine Warriors lost the opening game against the host 2-1 after which they improved on their performance in the second match to earn a 0-0 draw.
According to Felix Annan trips of this nature enable enables the squad to bond,aiding team chemistry.
“The entire exercise was great for us as a club and also good for the individual development of the players.”
“You require high levels of motivation for games like this and concentration as well. “It was the best form of preparation we could have hoped for especially since it forms part of our pre-season,” he told Citi Sports.
The 21 year old is expected to battle for the number goalkeeping slot of Asante Kotoko which most experts have described as the most competitive position in the team.
