President John Dramani Mahama as part of his cabinet reshuffle has replaced the Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna with Abdallah Abubakari, a defected member of the Peoples National Convention (PNC).
Alhaji Limuna, who was moved from the Upper East Region to the Northern Region in a similar cabinet reshuffle, is now going to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.
[contextly_sidebar id=”nee2MiAGd7yH1OQRXrVmglIUudzU3ZIU”]He succeeded in developing the region to an appreciable level and his major unfinished agenda is the implementation of the roadmap to peace in Dagbon.
Alhaji Limuna in collaboration with the Otumfuo-led committee of three eminent chiefs mediating the Dagbon chieftaincy dispute, was almost through with the agenda to perform the final funeral rites of the late two Dagbon overlords.
The incoming regional minister, Abdullah Abubakari, is a Mamprusi and a social development worker.
He quit his job as Action Aid Ghana’s Programmes Manager and contested the 2012 Parliamentary election in the Walewale constituency on the ticket of the Peoples National Convention (PNC).
Abdallah Abubakari crossed carpet to the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) and he is the party’s 2016 Parliamentary candidate for the Walewale Constituency.
The new appointment has been described as a calculated attempt by the NDC to politically break through the Mamprugu land where the NPP’s Vice Presidential candidate, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, gained considerable control during the 2012 elections.
