The Ghana National Gas Company has revealed that the Atuabo gas plant has resumed operations.
The Ghana National Gas Company shut its Atuabo Gas Plant last week Friday, 15 January, 2016.
The shutdown was for routine maintenance and was scheduled to come back on stream after 15 working days.

According to him the Volta River Authority( VRA) will by the close of today receive gas from the plant.
“We shut down for maintenance on the 15th of this month, we charged the engineers to complete the maintenance work within fourteen days and in the course they had showed us that they will be able to complete the work within seven days but they’ve succeeded in completing the entire maintenance works in five days and this I think is a credit for which they need to be recommended.
Ghana gas is ready to transport gas to VRA before the close of the day. Today marks the completion of the maintenance works that we announced to the country last week.”
George Sipa Yankey also attributed today’s 21st January, 2016, black out in many parts of the country to a switch over of Volta River Authority( VRA)’s machines from light crude to gas, contrary to earlier assertions by Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCO).
Most parts of the country went without electricity after a total systems collapse this morning according to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
According to George Sipa Yankey ‘while we sat down to do what was required of us by law, we also have to expedite our work so that we can get gas to VRA to enable them generate power to the country so far they have done a great job within the past four to five days without any power outages but this morning all of us in the country experienced some challenges and I believe that was also part of the transition from the use of fuel to gas but I believe that when we start to pump gas to Aboadze, the problem that we had this morning will cease’.
