The Bunso Junction accident on the Accra-Kumasi Highway, left Amakye Dede and his bodyguard hospitalized in the Eastern Region, but were later transferred to Accra.
The three, who sat in a stationary Toyota Corolla Car, were crashed by a sprinter bus which veered off its lane and run into them.
Amakye Dede was waiting to perform at the Paradise Rest Stop when the accident occurred. The singer, who sustained some lacerations, is responding to treatment together with his bodyguard.
He is reported to have wept uncontrollably after he was informed of his demise days after the accident. He described his late Manager as an irreplaceable friend.
“I have lost my best friend, my brother and my manager Isaac and it will be very difficult to get a replacement for Isaac. It will be very difficult to get a friend or a manager like Isaac but God knows best” he told Peace FM.
He however thanked God for his life, and assured Ghanaians and his fans that he is fine and thanked everybody for their prayers and support including the President John Dramani Mahama, who he said took time off his busy schedule, to visit him personally and sit by him on his sick bed.
He also thanked NPP flagbearer Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo and honourable Joseph Boakye Dankwa, MP for Abuakwa North, for providing an ambulance to transport him from the Eastern Region to Korle-Bu.
He also thanked Dr. Osei Kwame Despite, CEO of Despite Group of Companies, the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts and her Deputy, the Inspector General of Police, and his fellow musicians and all those who have taken time to visit him in the hospital.
“I thank God and I wish all Ghanaians a happy new year. It’s true that New Year didn’t begin well for me but God said in all things we should give thanks and praises to Him. First of all, I want to thank all Ghanaians that after the accident involving myself, my bodyguard and my manager, through which my manager lost his life, I am still at the Korle-bu Hospital but I have heard all their prayers and I am very grateful may God bless all of you”.
