The Electoral Commission has denied media reports suggesting that the Commission will spend some 900 million dollars to compile a new voters’ register.
[contextly_sidebar id=”fBK5erjPiNRIdI80iuD9EQNpntywON10″]“The Commission wishes to state that it has not made any such submission on the cost of compilation of a new register,” a statement from the commission said.
Policy Think Tank IMANI Ghana had written to the EC demanding clarification on how the Commission arrived at the reported figure of $900 miilion.
The Executive Director of Imani Mr Cudjoe said in that letter; “I am very sure every Ghanaian including me, will like to know how you arrived at what looks like an outrageous figure of $900m were the Commission to compile a new voter register.”
But the EC in a statement signed by its acting Director of Public Affairs, Christian Owusu Parry described his claims as erroneous and baseless.
Below is the statement from the EC
MEDIA REPORTS ON COST OF NEW REGISTER
The Commission’s attention has been drawn to reports in the media that it has submitted that it will cost Nine Hundred Million Dollars ($900m) to compile a new voters register.

The reports are erroneous and without basis and must be disregarded.
