Huawei Technologies has renovated the Main Accra library at a total cost of GHS 500,000.
This was done in partnership with Vodafone who donated 20 computers to the 2nd phase of the renovation exercise which has been launched.
According to the Managing Director of Huawei Technologies, Russell Xu, the decision to support the Accra Library renovation project was because they were touched by a story on the “Deplorable State of the Accra Main Library.”
Speaking at the launch, the Deputy Minister for Communication, Ato Sarpong thanked Huawei Technologies and Vodafone Ghana for being instrumental in the educational sector in Ghana.
He further said “… Libraries lead to spirit bonding among students because as we learn together in the class or in libraries we are able to bond together and we get better know ourselves,” he added.
Ato Sarpong further went on to say that there are many benefit of libraries hence the need to commend Huawei Technologies for this gesture and encourage other institutions to build libraries in our communities.”
