Wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, has said that Nigerians are in safe hands under President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

The President’s wife spoke in Enugu, on Thursday, when she inaugurated a health initiative.

The programme featured screening tests for cervical cancer, eye problems, diabetes, high blood pressure and other ailments.

Mrs. Buhari assured Nigerians that her husband’s administration would promote love, unity and security in the country.

“The government of my husband is a government of unity, love and security. Nigerians are in safe hands in my husband’s government,” she said.

The President’s wife assured Nigerians that Buhari would safeguard the future of Nigerians through good governance.

She noted that her love for the downtrodden informed the introduction of the screening exercise, especially against the backdrop of the economic hardship in the country.

“This health screening exercise will be enjoyed by not less than 2,000 women from virtually all the 17 Local Government Areas of the state.

“It would enable women ascertain their health statuses at no cost. It would promote good health, particularly among the rural women and the underprivileged,” she said.

Mrs. Buhari noted that rural women lacked the financial strength to access health care delivery.

She said that volunteer health professionals would render free medical health services to women.

In her address , the wife of the Enugu State Governor, Mrs. Monica Ugwuanyi, thanked the President’s wife for inaugurating the health screening exercise in the state.

Ugwuanyi noted that about 2,000 women in the state would access free health care through the programme.

She also said her office had perfected plans to replicate the programme in the 17 LGAs of the state.
