Mubarak Wakaso and Jordan Ayew scored in either half to give Ghana a 2-0 win over Comoros in the second leg of the second round of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
Ghana needed a win to book a place in the final stage of qualifiers and they got off to good start as Wakaso scored his second straight direct free kick for Ghana in recent matches.
Asamoah Gyan got fouled near the Comoros penalty area and the Las Palmas midfielder curled his shot past the Comoros goalie after 17 minutes.
Ghana tried to score some more but they could not create enough opportunities. Comoros had chances of their own but their best attempt was saved by Razak Braimah in post for Ghana.
The match was placed out of the visitors’ reach when, in the 84th minute, Jordan Ayew composed himself to fire home into the roof of the net after collecting a cross from the right flank.
The result sends Ghana to the group stage of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
