A first year female student of Ho Polytechnic in the Volta Region, met her untimely death on Monday dawn when she was stabbed to death at her hostel by an unknown assailant.

The deceased, Naomi Kpodzro, was seen lying in a pool of blood at the courtyard of Divine Star Hostel at 3:00 am after struggling to ostensibly flee from an assailant who attacked her in her room.

According to her colleagues in the hostel, they overhead a voice screaming for help and afterwards met Naomi in an unconscious state with her hands tied and chest wounded.

“I was in my room when I heard some footsteps so I woke up and then I heard someone shouting thief. So when I came out with my colleagues, we saw the lady lying on the floor and blood was oozing out of her and she was in pain. We didn’t even see the attacker but later when we went into her room, we saw blood on the lady’s bed and on the walls so we suspected the attacker may have struggled with her from her room” a student narrated to Citi News.

She was later rushed to the Volta Regional Hospital where she was pronounced dead after failed attempts by doctors to resuscitate her.

The students were unable to ascertain what really happened in the room but believe their colleague was murdered by an unknown person.

The management of the polytechnic has confirmed the incident and indicated that the Police have commenced investigations into the matter.

This incident follows a similar one that occurred at the University of Professional Studies (UPS) where a female student was stabbed to death by her boyfriend.
