A group calling itself the Young Patriots of the Peoples National Convention (PNC) in the Northern Region, has exposed what it says are attempts by some internal detractors to frustrate the intentions of the party’s General Secretary, Bernard Mornah, from contesting the PNC’s National Chairmanship slot.
Bernard Mornah, who declared his intention to contest the party’s national Chairmanship position has been accused of issuing a ‘bounced cheque’ whiles paying his filling fees.
[contextly_sidebar id=”cZrS5JWQBtOgY6KxhtjEyS2CxdrSNU7h”]Three leading PNC members, Henry Asante, David Apasera and Abubakar Sadick Ebla have petitioned the party’s vetting committee to disqualify Mr. Mornah over the ‘bounced cheque’ incident.
But the PNC Young Patriots group at a news conference in Tamale, rubbished the petitioners’ allegation.
The group’s Spokesperson, Iddrisu Salifu Protocol in a Citi News interview described the action by the three as an affront to the PNC’s Constitution.
“It has become a matter of necessity to purge elements within the PNC and outside forces who are scheming to dash the very existence of the party because they think the PNC will become stronger under the new Chairmanship of Bernard Mornah.”
“Just about two weeks ago, Hon. Apasera lamented how incapacitated he was in raising funds to prosecute his campaign and accused NDC of sponsoring Bernard Mornah. This sharply makes nonsense and reflects the deficiency of their well calculated accusation of “Bounced Cheque.”
Iddrisu Salifu Protocol admonished the party’s disciplinary committee to sanction the petitioners for allegedly tarnishing the party’s image.
“We wish to call on the party to institute disciplinary sanctions against David Apasera and Henry Asante for selfishly bringing shame and disrepute to the party.”
The group further insinuated that the petitioners’ action had something to do with attempts by the NPP to infiltrate the rank and file of the PNC ahead of election 2016.
“We have investigated and monitored the past and present records of these dissidents in the PNC immediately their modus operandi was revealed by the Daily Post newspaper on June 25, 2015 with the caption “NPP plot to take over PNC.”
“Our investigation revealed that these elements were summoned by their paymasters ostensibly to distribute amongst them various national positions they must contest such as David Apasera as national Chairman, Henry Asante as 1st Vice Chairman, Atik Mohammed as Secretary and Abu Ramadan as national Organizer.”
Iddrisu Salifu Protocol lamented that “ever since, countless attempts have been made to sabotage Bernard Mornah’s campaign including the recent concocted and frivolous petition brought by an all time serial election loser-Henry Asante to disqualify him from the race.”
