Reports reaching Citi Sports say the Ghana Football Association (GFA) are in talks with a Ukrainian beer company, Obolon, to be the new headline sponsor of the Ghana Premier League.
This follows the First Capital Plus Bank’s suspension of its deal with the GFA with reasons of restructuring their company’s activities.
With the league about to commence in a couple of months, the Ghana Football Association has taken steps to replace the First Capital Plus Bank with Obolon ahead of the start of next season with fears of losing the current sponsors.
Citi Sports understands that the deal could be completed soon with talks having progressed between the two parties.
The current deal between the GFA and First Capital Plus Bank is worth $2 million a year.
Obolon Joint Stock Company is a leading producer of alcoholic beverages based in Kyiv and has largest brewing facility in Europe by installed capacity.
The company has sponsored Ukrainian Club FC Obolon Kyiv since 1999.
