Airtel, Ghana’s fastest growing telecommunications network and multiple award winner in Corporate Social Responsibility, was on Friday 30th October joined by a host of celebrities to raise funds in support of the company’s employee driven initiative dubbed “Airtel Catwalk for Charity” in support of breast cancer awareness.

The show was the climax of a month long campaign graced by hip-life music duo Keche of Aluguntugui fame, Ghana movie star and entrepreneur John Dumelo, host of Drive Time on Joy 99.7 FM, Lexis Bill, YFM and ETV Presenter Giovani, co-host of CITI FM Breakfast Show Kojo Akoto Boateng, funny men and woman General Ntatia, Suarez, Dr. So, Jacinta and Airtel Ghana’s brand ambassador Kalybos with his TV series partner Ahuofe Patri all joining to share in the Changemaker company’s commitment to raising awareness and taking action on breast cancer.

Hannah Agbozo, Legal& Corporate Affairs Director, Airtel, stated, “Today is a climax of a month long engagement activity driven by our employees to raise awareness and funds in support of breast cancer education and treatment. We are excited to have these celebrities join us. For us, this means a lot – it means that they care about this cause as much as we do at Airtel. As the most loved telecom brand, supporting causes that make the most impact in our communities is what we do”.

She continued “We are making a change in the daily lives of many through our commitment to creating awareness and combating breast cancer because Airtel truly cares. But there’s still a lot to be done and we encourage many more people to join us for this truly worthy cause”.

Last year Airtel Ghana supported the Sweden Ghana Medical Cancer Foundation and The Judith Ellen Awuah Darko Foundation with funding raised through employee donations. This year’s event saw Airtel employees embarking on a social media campaign dubbed #AirtelCares; a-call-to-action by employees for customers and Ghanaians in general to be assertive in the awareness and prevention of breast cancer in Ghana.
