Leading supplier of fertilizer in Ghana, Yara, has announced the appointment of Sergio Godoy as its new country Managing Director to oversee its operations.
Mr. Godoy, who until his appointment was the Commercial Director of the company, takes over from Jorgen Arentz Rostrup.
Before joiningYara Ghana, Mr. Godoy served as the Commercial Director of Yara for Maghreb Region (Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia) until June 2013, where he was responsible on developing the company’s strategy and business in these countries; focusing on building long-term relations with customers, aiming at improving farmer’s profitability on various crops.
[contextly_sidebar id=”REsI6UDDoLmEmml4O8MH1xynJHTcvmVV”]Sergio who joined Yara in 2003, prior to taking the position in Maghreb, held various positions within commercial and technical management, business development and agronomical advice in Spain.
Sergio’s new appointment will see him manage the commercial and technical team on its approach to serve the farmer with value added fertilizer solution for their crops. He will also be directly responsible for company’s supplies.
Commenting on his new appointment, Sergio stated that: “Yara Ghana will still pursue its commitment to a sustainable future where we aim to create impact especially in the lives of farmers. We will continue creating value by delivering sustainable growth befitting customer and shareholders – as well as society at large.”

The three areas are intrinsically linked, and we are uniquely positioned to develop viable business solutions that address related global challenges,” he said.
Sergio, who holds an MBA from the IE Business School, Spain, said with Yara’s support, farmers will be able to deliver on sustainable agriculture as well as the environment. Yara’s fertilizers and crop nutrition programs, he said, will help smallholder farmer to produce the food required for the country’s growing population.
