Very Rev. Dr Yaw Frimpong Manso, the immediate past Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), is insisting that no one from the church has asked him to reconsider his resignation from the church.

[contextly_sidebar id=”uhxRGZgfL6f2dVxByNl1QSTFuXXg46bh”]“I will say it’s a total lie, if they had taken such a decision I’ve never heard of it. Nobody has spoken to me. Since the time they started writing to me regarding my call back to Ghana, none of the elders, minister or leaders of the church, has called me personally on phone to speak to me on the matter. I want to emphasize clearly that the first thing is for people to be truthful. Nobody has written to me to rescind my decision,” he stressed.

Rev. Dr. Yaw Frimpong Manso renounced his membership from the church following what he referred to as a “disrespect to his person and ministry.”

His action follows a resolution by the leadership of the PCG to severe ties with the pro-homosexual Presbyterian Church of the United States of America over the latter’s decision to ordain gay pastors, elders and deacons.

PCG had thus written to it’s ministers in that country to return to Ghana.

But Rev. Dr. Yaw Frimpong Manso maintained that the General Assembly did not accord him the needed respect before taking the decision.

Meanwhile, the Presbyterian Church of Ghana says it has asked Rev. Frimpong Manso to rescind his decision.

Speaking on Eyewitness News on Thursday, the Public Relations Officer of the PCG, Rev. George Larbi said “I can say authoritatively that the clerk of General Assembly has communicated with him several times… So the clerk of General Assembly is in constant contact with the former moderator.”

But Rev. Frimpong Manso also on Eyewitness News urged PCG to use the right channels in contacting him.
