The 2016 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has described President John Dramani Mahama’s government as the most incompetent of the governments under Ghana’s Fourth Republic.

Addressing party faithfuls on the 2nd day of his “Rise and Build Tour” in the Ashanti Region, the NPP flagbearer said : “the most incompetent government in the history of the 4th Republic is the government of John Dramani Mahama. We have a responsibility in the NPP to work hard and remove this government.”

According to him, every sector of the Ghanaian economy has been in decline ever since the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government assumed the helm of affairs some 7 years ago.

He indicated that worsening living standards of Ghanaians, widespread and rampant corruption, rising levels of unemployment, declining agriculture, and enterprise failures, are all evidence of the incompetence of the Mahama-led administration.

These developments, Akufo-Addo said, requires the NPP to work hard to effect the change that Ghanaians desire, stressing that “an NPP victory in 2016 is the only way the nation can return onto the path of progress and prosperity.”

Speaking on the implementation of the National Health Insurance Scheme by President Kufuor, Nana Akufo-Addo lamented that Ghana, under President Mahama, is now back to the “cash and carry” system.

This, he said, is because funds for the NHIS, like all statutory payments, are in arrears.

According to him, hospitals are no longer willing to provide healthcare to NHIS card holders, compelling Ghanaians to pay for healthcare services.

Akufo-Addo further noted the NPP will begin the process of rebuilding Ghana again when voted into power.

He also reaffirmed his target of achieving 80% margin of victory for the NPP in the 2016 election.
