The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Amenfi West in the Western Region, John Gyetua, has passed on.

The Member of Parliament died Tuesday afternoon after a short illness.

The wife of the late MP, Veronica Gyetua told Adom FM that the MP was found unconscious this morning after the family went to call him for breakfast.

“We had finished serving breakfast and we went to call him to come for food…that was when we realized he has fallen unconscious so we rushed him to the hospital and he was confirmed dead.”

According to her, the MP was encouraged to sleep for a while after his driver whom he was set to go for a walk with in the morning found he didn’t look healthy.

Mr. Gyetua was in 2010 appointed Minister of State at the Presidency by the late President John Evans Atta Mills.

The late MP was married with seven children.

The Electoral Commission will set a date for a by-election after an official notification from Parliament.
